Kippi Leonard, Artist

Kippi Leonard, working from her studio in Cathedral City, California, is known for textured and bold compositional paintings that blend elements of tension, tranquility, and depth. Working with a diverse palette of materials including oil paints, desert sand she gathers, cold wax, graphite, charcoal, oil sticks, and pastels, she applies these onto raw linen, canvas and birch panels. Her technique involves a unique layering process from multiple perspectives on a flat surface, resulting in minimalist compositions characterized by expressive lines, subtle colors, and varied textures.

In addition to her painting, Kippi's monotype printmaking stands out for its multidimensional and ethereal quality. These works on paper, which are intuitive and process-driven, are created using oil relief inks, collage elements, bespoke materials, and an etching press, embodying a philosophy of exploration and discovery within her artistic journey.

Kippi's work, celebrated for its innovative approach and textural complexity, is included in numerous private collections internationally, spanning the United States, Hong Kong, London, Sweden, the Netherlands, Dublin, France and Switzerland.
